Purrfect kitty pensioner food. Lets be honest cats are fussy with their food – in fact with everything . My cats have been going through a faze for ages of just demanding food with gravy ( jelly is now considered an insult ) but sucking the gravy out and leaving the meat both my cats are very old and i’m a bit of a sap but its costing me a fortune in food. However these packets are perfect as they are moist, tons of gravy but little pieces of meat ( as there teeth are not great anymore) but even better the packs are such small sizes they tend to eat most of it and i have less waste. Also the packs contain two flavorsso far it’s got a great finished bowl rating from my 16 year old birman which is a rarity. The other thing i like about it is the boxes are lovely and slim and a dream for storing – wish other companies would follow suit. Overall im very pleased , they may seem expensive because my cats only have small appetites it works out well for me and if you have a cat or cats with a smaller appetite then i would recommend.
Purina one senior 7+ wet cat food has now been part of our cats’ diet for five days now and they are loving it. . Purina one senior wet cat food is formulated for older cats, seven years old and above, so our two fussy fourteen year old abyssinians fit the target. Each pack contains five each of chicken with green bean, and beef with carrot in easy open pouches, filled with “mini fillets” of meat in a rich gravy. We have tried many similar products in the past but although our cats are tempted by them, they have tended to lick up all the gravy and then leave the meat. We were therefore delighted that when we fed them the first pouch of beef with carrot they dived in with gusto and presented us with two licked clean dishes. For their next meal we fed them the chicken with green beans which led to similar results. Purina one senior 7+ wet cat food has now been part of our cats’ diet for five days now and they are loving it.

Cats like except for vegetables. In general, i trust the purina brand to produce food that is nutritionally appropriate for cats. And my cats do like this, for the most part. But they do leave the vegetable chunks behind, licking the gravy off them. Rather remarkable really, because the vegetable fragments are pretty small, so you’d think they’d hoover one or two up along with the meaty chunks. I do not understand why pet food manufacturers put vegetables in cat food. In the wild, they only ever eat vegetable matter when they want to be sick. Otherwise, they are genuine carnivores, not omnivores like humans or pigs (or even, to a lesser extent, dogs). In general, carbohydrate (which vegetables have more of) is not well tolerated by cats, and repeated consumption increases the risk of diabetes and other illnesses (so my vet told me when one of our cats succumbed to kidney disease). However, this cat food is no different from 95% of cat foods on the market – and looking at the price of cat foods which contain only meat products, the point of vegetables in cat food must be to keep costs down.

My older cat is now twelve and has had utis in the past, so i never give him anything other than a wet food diet. This particular car food looked like it was designed specifically fir himthe cat loved it, purring while eating – a rather charming trick he does when he’s particularly enjoying his food. The cat’s pleasure, coupled with what i read on the box ensures i’ll be buying this again.
Seniors demand the variety of choices available to juniors. My mature felines liked the first exposure to beef and carrots, but were already a little muted when presented with chicken and green beans on the next meal. They have easily bored, appreciative of the unfamiliar, taste buds. I know from experience that i always need a wide variety of flavours on hand, as what is first appreciated will be met with the feline equivalent of raised eyebrows and examining one’s nails, tutting and sighing – walking away from the bowl, or, even more pleasantly, regurgitating the despised proffered fare. I suspect (but was for sure not going to try) that beef-and-carrots might have a similar flavour to chicken-and-green-beans with a similar sauce, so they already thought they were getting more or less what they had at the previous meal. It’s equally possible that chicken-and-green-beans will be a disliked dinner of the day. I think the vegetables may be there to reassure owners, as we all know how important it is for us to get our 5-7. But complete carnivores, which the cat family are, don’t normally crave their sprouts.
