Not too smelly to upset human noses, but smelly enough to attract cats’. But, it’s priced fairly high in comparison to other var. I keep biscuits sealed in an airtight container if they don’t come in a resealable pouch, but with these, even if you left them out, i don’t think you’d overly notice the smell. They actually smell a bit like a savoury cracker/biscuit, but at the same time, there must be something in them, because both my admittedly greedy boy cats came rushing as soon as i put some in a bowl. It is irritating that the pouch isn’t resealable, as i tend to have a few varieties on the go and having a lot of containers around takes up space. The ingredients are of the same trusted quality that i expect from this brand, but, considering there’s less animal content and more cereal/rice in this, i’m a little surprised that they’re about 20% more expensive than the traditional range. Still, i’d buy it because my cats loved it and because iams products never compromise on quality or give them any kind of tummy upset. Both boys are now classed as ageing, and i want them around for as long as possible.

We have two cats that are not fussy eaters. They seem to prefer dry food over wet and this iams product has been a welcome addition to their diet. I’m happy with it because there has been no adverse reaction from either end and because it does not have a strong aroma (unlike some). The bag is not resealable which is quite ridiculous, so one star removed for that.

Decent cat food, with mild moral superiority. May three fussy cats eat it, it is mildly more expensiave than the cheapest cat food, but soothes some of my guilt about feeding carnivores for fun, and so far hasn’t caused any of my cats’ kidneys to go into meltdown (as tends to happen with cheaper dried cat foods).

Iams is the best of the best . Iams makes the best cat food on the market, this large bag of lamb kibble was eaten by my four girls and i mixed it in with half a pouch of jelly each just to mix it up. Iams used to be much more expensive than whiskas or felix but nowadays it is much more comparible in price. In short better quality, the girls love it and therefore recommended.

IAMS Naturally Adult Cat Lamb and Rice : Should be in a ziplock bag for storage. All of our cats bar one (5 of them) ate this food with no observed problems – they’re used to us swapping dried food about to give a bit of variety so we don’t generally have to titrate it against their regular food, and they hoovered it all up; so no waste either. It ticks all the boxes in terms of nutrition and cat health (kidney etc. ,) and to have lamb does give a bit of a change from chicken which is so often the main meat ingredient in dry cat food. Only one avoided this, but she’s a really fussy eater these days and will only eat either the rc or hills oral kibbles. Depending on the size of the your cat this will last either around 70 days down to 20 days if this is all you feed them. The kibble is smaller than a lot of kibble i’ve fed the cats with over the years, being around 2/3rds the size of a lot of the hills/rc ranges. Despite all bar the fusspot eating it without problems, which is my useual criteria for giving cat food five stars, on this occasion i knocked off a star for the lack of a resealable bag, either ziplock (like hills/rc) or with a sellotape seal to allow you to fold the bag down as the contents go down. It might sound petty but if your cat is small then you may need to store this for up to 6 weeks and even kibble goes stale eventually if not stored correctly.

  1. My cat george has always been fussy when it comes to the sourcing of his lamb that forms the basis of his food, his preference has always been locally sourced and reared but as this was a free vine sample he’s made an exception and given it a try. I’m pretty sure he enjoys changing his biscuits because it takes a long time to get through a bag and i think he gets quite bored of the same flavour and texture for months at a time. He was quick to get into these and has generally favoured iams in the past, the biscuits are all the same size which don’t offer much variety or work out for his mouth and teeth but that hasn’t stopped him. Iams have a great nutritional message which i’ve bought into and where possible i will buy iams despite the higher price over other well-known brands.

Cats moderately approving, human very annoyed at ill thought through packaging. Although this has been met with moderate, if not ecstatic, enthusiasm by its target market, and the fact that it was crunched, rather than hoovered and swallowed whole – meaning less likelihood of later upchuck, it was less enthusiastically met by the target shopper market. I have deducted 2 stars for the stupidly, improperly thought through packaging. Best, most appreciated flavour on dried is always on the opening of a sealed package. Aroma and flavour clearly fade away, and packages which have no self seal – this doesn’t, become unappetising to the demanding ones, very very quickly. Owners will need to have a collection of small tubs to decant this into, to keep things fresh. As i don’t have enough of these to accommodate 2. 7 kg it has all been tightly bound with parcel tape, to be unwrapped when the collection of small tubs need refilling. 1 star deducted (despite the better contents that some with less recognisable contents – more chemistry, less ‘food’) because cats showed liking not loving, and another star deducted by cross human at the stupidity of packing design.

      1. Went down well, but packaging not resealable. My cat initially attacked this with gusto but has now cooled a little. Nevertheless, she does appear to enjoy it (even if nothing beats dreamies, to which i regret introducing her. But it’s lost a star for the packaging which isn’t resealable so you’ll need a large, preferably airtight, container for all this.

Iams naturally new zealand lamb & rice. Both of my cats have been happily eating these biscuits alongside their wet pouch food for a few days now and my older cat who prefers dry food over wet food doesn’t even lift her head from her bowl until she has eaten it all when it is put in front of her. The ultimate taste test is that i put their normal food on one side of the kitchen and these biscuits on the other and my eldest made a beeline for these biscuits whilst my younger cat dipped between the two. The biscuits themselves are slightly smaller than our usual ones and a little softer too but they don’t have as pungent a smell. At the time of writing this review the biscuits are not currently being sold by amazon and therefore i am unable to comment on the price and whether this would be a food i would continue to feed my cats. Based on the quality of the food and the way it has been received by my cats then yes this is something i would feed them again but price would also be a factor in this decision. My one negative is that the bag is not resealable which means either decanting it into a separate container to keep fresh or sealing the bag somehow between use and for this we are just using some clips. 7kg and as we are mixing this alongside wet food, i would think this would last us just over a month for two cats at the recommended 34g per day (34g per day for a 4kg cat plus one 85g pouch of wet food alongside split over two meals or up to 75g per day for just the biscuits alone split over two meals) based on their closest weight guide of 4kg.

Its kinda hard to review these, they seem ok, they are smaller than a lot of the dried cat food, ours seem to find them easier to eat. We have 4 cats, 2 just over 2 years old and 2 around the 12 months mark, they all like this food, i tend to leave a bowl down when we are at work during the day. So on the strength that my cats love it then its 5 stars.

Good quality product, tucked into by my eight rescue cats and even sampled by a ten week old rescue kitten.

My cats have moved onto this, very happily, from the meowing heads that were enjoying (i hope they`ll go back to that, as i`ve got about 6kg of it). Given a bowl of both, they both ate iams instead, which surprised me as they didn`t show massive enthusiasm for the brand before, when they were kittens. Fair enough, i will do as i`m instructed and will pick up some more of this.

Passed the taste test immediately, much enjoyed and appreciated. My two, just fully grown adult, british short haired black and white cats seem to relish this kibble; it is very small pieces, little nuggets, easy to eat, compared to some others and goes down well, keeping their teeth busy working, i can hear them crunch it uplamb and rice is a delicious combination for us too, and one that does get the cats very interested when we are eating the human version. Being 100% complete nutrition so i can relax and know i have covered all the bases. Iams is a name i have heard about for years so it is good to know they are well established. Having this delivered is a great help and it can be ordered to arrive regularly, so one less bag to lug home.

My cat seemed to really enjoy this product. It did not have a bad smell like some i have used. Just make sure your cat has plenty of water.
