    Buying this way was cheaper than buying the big bags and meant i could change the flavour more often, which pleased my cats. Item was delivered on time and well packed.

    1. Pretty good deal for these – they’re easily my boy’s favourite. Prompt delivery with sensible use by dates (sometimes buying when you can’t actually see the product means you could end up with six bags that need to be eaten by the end of the week you receive them) hassle free purchase.

    Iams – the premium cat food brand – especially for the chunky cat. Iams is a premium cat food which out cats were delighted to devour. It’s a balanced diet which they supplement with various small beasts and whatever else they can lay their paws on.

Our cat’s eat a diet of predominately wet food pouches and although i always have a bowl of dry food available for them alongside their water bowls they really need to be hungry before they’ll do more than just nibble at it. They love the wet food but i’m not a fan, it’s messy and smelly and i really want to try and switch them to dry food. They’re set in their ways though and it’s been proving difficult to wean them off pouches after so long. I’ve tried other dry foods in the past but so far their response has been a resounding ‘no’given the great reviews of iams i was confident that they’d go for it and i got it in a couple of flavours. The norwegian salmon sounded particularly appetizing. I took things slowly, as per the instructions, and tried to introduce it in increasing quantities over a few days while reducing the wet pouches and initially they seemed to show an above passing interest in it. I think it was just novelty value though as very quickly they made their opinions known that the dry food (regardless of how expensive and nutritionally sound it was) was not going to be tolerated. It was just too upsetting and frustrating for both the cat’s and myself to try and persevere with it. It’s wonderful stuff if your cat is interested in it, i imagine.

    1. I was a bit sceptical about this product as i have a rather greedy cat who is also very fussy. Attempts at other “diet” food was met with a sniff, a cautious bite and then left to attract the flies, never to be eaten. Thankfully, the iams seems to do the trick. He eats this just as he did the normal version and he’s now beginning to benefit and shows definitesigns of weight loss – so all in all, i recommend this product.

    Don’t get me wrong, my cats love food. It’s a big obsession with them. One of my cats is lovingly named fat cat (he’s not) but the vet did want him to loose a little. So i thought this would be a great idea (btw – it wasn’t clear when i ordered that there were actually three bags to an order – helpful if like me you leave it to the last minute and are always running out), to get the low fat food. I recently added a kitten to the house (why??. She’s a bit unhinged), she refused to eat her very expensive kitten food, and instead decided she wanted to eat fatty’s food (which wasn’t this). So i thought i’d give it a try. Unfortunately neither one of them likes the food. Which is a bit of a shame to say the least.

I do worry that at times they get a bit too relaxed, and hence a little portly, so i was keen to try a lighter food to see if this aided a reduction in their waistlines. I think after a week or so on this, they were looking leaner, but was it because of the food, or inspite of it?.On balance, i feel they will eat less of this, and therefore lose a little, but that kind of defeats the point of itstill good quality, great value food.

    1. My cat seems to enjoy eating it and the bags are huge which means it is good value for money because they last a very long time. As to all the extra benefits listed on the side of the packet about how good it for my cat?. Not quite sure i can say she seems all that different whilst eating this stuff but you never know.

We used to give our cats meat and always had a problem in the warmer weather because if they left any food for later it did not take long for their bowls to become magnets (and breeding grounds) for flies. Dried cat food is definitely the way to go (with a pouch of meat on weekend days as an extra treat and break from routine) as long as the cats like it, and our two are more than happy with iams. We have a large plastic container which we put two or three sacks of different flavours into and mix them up so there is always a bit of variety, and we can fill up a bowl so it lasts all day without having to worry about smells or flies. The only downside, and it is a small one, is the sound of cats crunching in the small hours as they enjoy a midnight feast.
