    1. Whenever i buy iams for my cat i notice a definite difference. Not particularly in behavior, but her coat is more shiny, and her eyes brighter. She will also eat more of iams at a sitting than any other cat food, so i assume its tasty.

    This is by far the best cat food i have found, firstly it is great value as you get loads in it and certainly cheaper than pouches. My four cats all love it and look really healthy on it.

    I have no idea how fishy this cat food might taste, as it’s very low odour, which is a distinct benefit when having to dish it up. My cat will eat anything offered to him, so it’s difficult to know whether he particularly likes these biscuits, although he’s fast enough to butt my hand out of the way to get to them while i’m pouring them out, so he definitely likes themthe bags are sturdy, but it would have been useful to have resealable bags, especially with two dogs wandering around the house too. I’ve had to decant the biscuits into a plastic container, which wasn’t quite big enough to hold them all, so had to find another one for the rest. A bit of a faff which could easily be avoided with better bag design. I haven’t noticed a particular change or improvement in my cat’s coat or condition, and the only really obvious change has been in the smell when he uses his litter tray. It does smell worse than it did when he was on the cheaper go-cat biscuits. Whether that shows a good thing or not for his gut i’m not sure. He’s a ragdoll, and i have read they can have sensitive digestion, so perhaps his tummy is still getting used to it. Or perhaps i’ll start mixing it with go-cat to reduce the effect.

The oldest one often won’t touch it, and the two in between can take it or leave it. I had been under the impression that iams was one of the best dry foods for cats, but based on our cats’ own reactions i can only say that this is not the case. It will get eaten, but no more quickly than go-cat for example, which is cheaper.     Biscuit is usually fed on whiskas dry cat food alongside whiskas or felix wet pouches so i was interested to see how this iams wild ocean fish & chicken compares, especially as a premium product which promises additional benefits for your cat such as strong muscles, healthy digestion, strong immune system and a healthy heart. Firstly this product comes in 3x 3kg bags so if storage is an issue, it might be worth getting a smaller size. However, delivery is convenient if you don’t have access to a car and local supermarket. Unfortunately the large bags are not re-sealable so i would recommend decanting into an airtight container to ensure the food doesn’t go stale. Now to the real test: what did biscuit think?. He certainly seemed to enjoy the iams, however he isn’t a particularly fussy cat where food is concerned and ate a similar amount and at a similar speed as he does with his regular food. Whilst this is a fairly expensive cat food, a little goes a long way and it certainly seems like a quality product – it is definitely worth a try.

But he is much more keen to eat this sort than his regular shop’s own brand dry food. It is quite expensive though, and i’m not sure that he would accept having no wet food at all. Obviously, i haven’t tried it myself but judging by the cat’s reaction and the fact that it is nearly gone already.     2 out of (my) 3 cats prefer iams. I have two middle-aged cat brothers and a `posh’ young maine coon. The brothers were fed iams for the first 5 years of their lives and loved it until the vet advised me to change their food to a science diet as he said it was better. He likened feeding a cat on anything but a science diet akin to feeding the kids cheeseburgers everyday. Full of shock and horror, i started buying a science diet brand and the boys were happy enough to eat it. Well, when posh missy came to stay just over a year ago, she came with what i always regarded as a cheap and nasty brand of cat food. She wouldn’t touch the science diet and my boys started thieving mc’s dinner in preference to their own. Cats being cats, i thought it was probably because they were just being contrary but no, they loved the `rubbishy’ brand. I took my cats for their annual vaccinations last month and discussed the subject of `good’ food versus `bad’ with the new, young vet. He told me that there was a lot of hype about science-based food versus the cheaper brands.
